The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship 2024 was initiated by the Canadian Government in 2008 in order to honor George Philias Vanier. George P. Vanier was a famous Canadian military officer and diplomat. He served as Governor General of Canada from 1959 until 1967. The Vanier Canada Grade Scholarships program, also known as the Rhodes Scholarships of Canada, is designed to be a new attraction for highly qualified and talented students. The Vanier Scholarship 2024 is aimed at individuals with leadership qualities and outstanding education in the social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, engineering, and health-related fields. Vanier Scholars will receive a $50,000 scholarship each year for three years. The program accepts and supports up to 166 fellows per year. Eligibility Criteria for the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship 2024:

  • The applicant must be a Canadian or foreign student studying in Canada. 
  • The applicant must be pursuing a Ph.D. program and must be a full-time student at a Canadian institution. 
  • The university must nominate the candidate, and it should be eligible to receive the Vainer CGS university quota. The list will be updated on July 1.
  • The applicant must be pursuing their first Ph.D. program. 
  • The applicant must not be receiving any fellowship or scholarship from any of the three Canadian agencies (CIHR, SSHRC), or SSHRC for any other doctoral program.
  • The candidate must have a first-class average in the last two years of study. 
  • Students pursuing joint professional degree programs (MD/PhD, DVM/PhD, and JD/Ph.D.) are eligible; however, only PhD tenure will be funded. 
  • The candidates must have a significant research component to their research proposal. 
  • The applicant must not be a faculty member of the institution that has a Vanier quota or any other institution as well. In order to be eligible, the applicant must be granted leave for the Ph.D. by the institution. 
  • The applicant must be a full-time student. If the student has some disability or has to support their family, he or she can be enrolled as a part-time student. 
  • For part-time students, the two-month study will be considered a one-month study as compared to a full-time student. 
  • Canadian Federal Government employees can only be eligible for paid leave from the government. 
  • Eligible candidates can apply for both Vanier and agency-specific Ph.D. scholarships. However, if you are selected for multiple scholarships due to the screening, you will need to select one. 

How do I apply for the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship 2024? 

  • Applicants cannot apply directly for the Vanier Scholarship in 2024. 
  • Applicants must first apply to an institution that has a Vanier CGS assignment. 
  • To be eligible for the scholarship, candidates need to receive a nomination from their educational institution.
  •  Ensure their applications are submitted before the internal submission deadline. Each institution’s internal submission date is different. 
  • The recommending agency will then send the candidate to her Vanier CGS program before the deadline.

Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship 2024 Application Process:

  • Candidates should begin researching Canadian educational institutions on the Canadian Universities website
  • Check her Vanier CGS quota for the selected institution. 
  • Once you have completed the above steps, please complete your application on the ResearchNet application form. Complete all required steps for the Vanier CGS application on the ResearchNet form. 
  • The language of the application is English or French. 
  • Please note that there are prescribed presentation standards for the attached documents. 
  • Complete all the required tasks. 
  • Statistics must be completed before submitting your application. 
  • Once you submit your application to your recommended agency, your activity log will be updated to complete your activity. This application will not change in the future. 
  • If your institution returns your application via ResearchNet, the date will be corrected and sent back to you. You can edit and resubmit your application. 
  • If your application is selected for nomination, you will receive an automated email and ResearchNet confirmation. 
  • If you do not receive an email, you can contact your institution to inquire about the status of your application. 

Required documents for Vanier CGS 2024:

To apply for the Vanier Scholarship in Canada, candidates must have all of the following documents: 

  • ResearchNet application form. 
  • Two letters of recommendation 
  •  CV/Resume. 
  • Research contributions may not consist of multiple pages. 
  • A personal statement demonstrating the candidate’s leadership qualities. 
  • Two letters of recommendation for managers 
  • A research proposal of maximum of 2 pages 
  • Up to 5 pages of project settings. 
  • Academic records, transcripts, and certificates 
  • Evidence of special circumstances for part-time students. Proofs should not exceed 0.5 pages.
