The students chosen as Schwarzman Scholars will receive an extensive scholarship. This scholarship includes tuition fees, stay, and travel accommodations from Beijing at the start and end of the academic year. In-country study tour, required course books, and supplies, health insurance, and a personal stipend.

Eligibility:

Bachelor’s or first-year degree from an accredited institution or university, or its equivalent. Applicants enrolling in undergraduate degree programs must meet all requirements by August 1. There are no qualifications for a specific subject of undergraduate study. All fields are eligible; Nevertheless, applicants must describe how participation in Schwarzman Scholars would be helpful in leadership learning.

Minimum Age Requirement.

Candidates must be at least 18 years old. Candidates should be no older than 28 years old on August 1 of their Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year.

Language competency in English. 

All instructions are in English. Applicants must be fluent in the language. The requirement of English proficiency test scores is necessary. In case English is not the applicant’s first language. The following are acceptable test options:
  • There should be a minimum score of 100 is required for TOEFL iBT (Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language) 
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System) A minimum score of 7 is required.
  • Cambridge English: Proficiency (C2) or Cambridge English: Advanced (C1): 185 is the minimum possible score.
This requirement is eliminated for applicants. Candidates graduated from an undergraduate institution where English was the major language of instruction for at least two years. The requirement will also be waived for applicants who have minimum studied English in a Master’s program for 2 years. The exact eligibility criteria can be seen at this link.
